A Culzean Castle wedding is always very special. The grounds, the views, the history. . .it’s hard to beat as a wedding venue in Scotland. Which is why I was delighted to be asked to take Nikita & Alasdair’s Culzean Castle wedding photos last year.
The whole day took place in the Castle which made things nice and easy for all involved. Nikita & Alasdair wanted their wedding to be relaxed and laidback, and despite the grandeur of their location that’s exactly what they got. It was a fairly small wedding, which meant the bride and groom got plenty of time to chat to all their guests without feeling pulled in too many directions.
It is possible to see Culzean Castle as having too many possible locations for photos. It can almost be overwhelming as the grounds are so big that you could waste time trying to find the perfect backdrop. But on this occasion we were helped by the rain! We only had a small window of dry weather so we didn’t have time to head down to the beach. But this focussed our minds and we showed that you don’t have to go far to get amazing Culzean Castle wedding photos.

The Bridal Prep room in the Castle is simply stunning – the perfect place to relax and get ready for your Big Day. As I was photographing the girls, Daniel was with the guys capturing them hanging out together before the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was also in the Castle. If it hadn’t been so cloudy we would have had lovely views of the sea!
During the Drinks Reception we took the couple for a short walk down the driveway, allowing us to get some beautiful wedding photos with Culzean Castle in the background. They were some of my favourite images of the day.
