Wedding Photographer in Fife

Relaxed, creative wedding photography in Fife

I’m a wedding photographer and filmmaker based in St Andrews, photographing weddings throughout Fife and across Scotland. My approach is pretty simple: I want you to spend your wedding day with the people you love, rather than disappearing for hours for photographs.

Most of the day is captured naturally as it happens, with a little direction when it’s useful and time set aside for a handful of great portraits. No endless posing, and definitely no turning your wedding into a photoshoot.

Wedding photography across Fife

Being based in St Andrews (after growing up in Glasgow) means Fife is now home for me. I’ve photographed weddings across the area, from large celebrations at Fairmont St Andrews and the Old Course Hotel, to more rustic weddings at Kinkell Byre, The Cow Shed Crail, Rufflets, Cambo Estate and beyond.

It’s also an unusually good part of Scotland to photograph weddings. Within a relatively small area you’ve got the coastline, beaches, historic St Andrews, open countryside and some brilliant wedding venues, which means we can usually take some spectacular photos without taking you away from your guests for hours on end!

Wedding Venues in Fife

Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews

Sitting above the coastline just outside St Andrews, Fairmont is one of the Fife venues we know particularly well. We’ve photographed and filmed several weddings there, from preparations through to the evening celebrations.

What I especially like photographically is the amount of variety nearby. You can make use of the landscape and coastline when the weather is good, while still having plenty of options when Scotland decides not to cooperate.

Old Course Hotel, St Andrews

The Old Course Hotel lies at the heart of St Andrews, next to the Old Course itself. I’ve photographed a lot of St Andrews weddings over the years and many of my favourites have taken place at this hotel. I particularly love the contrast between the hotel itself and what we can find within a few minutes around St Andrews.

It also means there’s no need to turn portraits into a two-hour expedition. A short walk at the right point in the day can give us something completely different before getting you back to the party.

Kinkell Byre

Kinkell Byre is one of Fife’s most distinctive wedding venues. Full of rustic character, incredible surroundings and enough flexibility for couples to make the place feel completely their own.

It’s also fantastic for photographs and video. The landscape around Kinkell gives us plenty to work with, particularly later in the day when the light starts to drop.

Natural Wedding Photographs

I love great wedding photographs. I just don’t think getting them should take over your wedding.

For most of the day I’m looking for what’s already happening: people laughing, nerves before the ceremony, children causing chaos, friends seeing each other for the first time in years.

When we do photos of the bride and groom, we’ll give you enough direction that you don’t have to wonder what you’re supposed to be doing. But we’re not interested in forcing couples into twenty different poses.

Usually we’ll disappear for a short time, make a handful of photographs that feel like you, and get you back to your guests.

Wedding Photography + Film

Want photography and film?

We offer both.

Having photography and videography from the same team means you don’t have two separate companies competing for the same moments or pulling you in different directions. We work together, share the same relaxed approach and make the photography and film feel like parts of the same story.

You can book photography, filmmaking, or both together.

A Cow Shed Wedding in Crail

Claire & Colin | The Cow Shed, Crail

One of the weddings that originally lived on this page was Claire and Colin’s brilliant day at The Cow Shed in Crail.

The Cow Shed has a completely different feel from venues such as Fairmont or the Old Course Hotel: informal, rustic and surrounded by the Fife countryside. Claire and Colin wanted their wedding to feel relaxed, so rather than disappearing off to the coast for portraits, we stayed around the venue and let them spend the day with their guests.

That’s still pretty representative of how we like to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a wedding photographer in Fife cost?

Our wedding packages vary depending on whether you would like 1 or 2 photographers and whether you’re looking for photography, film or both. Please get in touch with your date and venue and I’ll send everything over.

Do you travel outside Fife?

Absolutely. Whilst I (Andi) am based in St Andrews the rest of the team are based around Glasgow, Loch Lomond and Ayrshire. We photograph weddings throughout Scotland and further afield.

Do you photograph weddings in St Andrews?

Regularly. I’ve photographed weddings at venues including Fairmont St Andrews, the Old Course Hotel, Kinkell Byre and around the town itself.

We hate having our photograph taken. Is that a problem?

Not at all! Most of my couples tell me that!

You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I’ll give you direction when you need it and leave you alone when you don’t. The aim is for the photographs to look great without your wedding day feeling like one long photoshoot.

Planning A Wedding In Fife?

Tell me a little about what you’re planning: your date, venue and what you’re looking for. I’ll then send over availability and the relevant photography and film options.
